“Ambitious” is sometimes used as the term in poker for when guarantees aren’t hit. Like at 4Poker last weekend when some $53,000 in overlays were pumped into three tournaments: two $200k guaranteed ($5.2k buy-in), and one $75k guaranteed ($1.05k buy-in), a mere and fitting FOUR days after launch!

Everyone here at 4Poker HQ was thrilled. Sure, the guarantees hadn’t been met, but with almost half-a-million dollars in buy-ins, and some of the biggest names in poker online in the opening weekend of MTTs at 4Poker, this was ambitious. There are going to be more guarantees this weekend, not least of all on Sunday’s $1,050 and $5,200 buy-ins: a $100,000 Main Event and $150,000 High Roller. There’s also some excellent satellite value to be had for low- and mid-stakes players. 

So as we go again this weekend, the poker room team are overlaying a lot of satellites (on purpose!) to give players of all levels a chance to play the $100k Main Event for as little as just one dollar. Check the tournament lobby. Sats are running now. They’re not freerolls – but they’re pretty close. As you can see below there’s a whole bunch of $1.1 satellites feeding into the 10-seat Mega satellite on Sunday, which gets you into the $100,000 Main Event. You can buy into the Sunday Mega sat for $105, which is very likely to be overlaying big time, too. 

Furthermore, I can reveal that there’s some increasingly loud chatter about seven-figure guarantees on the near horizon. More on that to come soon. Keep following the 4Poker socials.

Big buy-ins, big names

So who last weekend? It turns out it was a huge fan of fizzy soda. I_LOVE_COKE won BOTH the $75k GTD and $200k GTD for a combined $90,937.50. They must have been enjoying one hell of a sugar rush. Meanwhile, 4Poker ambassador Artur Martirosian won the second $5k for $69,000 with fellow 4Poker ambassador Ole Schemion just behind in third place for $36,000. 

It’s not all about the big buy-in side of the poker dream. There’s a growing line-up of daily tournaments with a variety of buy-in levels, from freerolls through to $44, in a schedule that will continue to grow in both events and guarantee. Field sizes have been increasing from event to event.
